What started the reverse polarity cab winding?

What started the reverse polarity cab winding?

Just curious, I have not tried to re-wire any of my Two-Rock cabs the "normal" way to hear the difference, but wondered if there was anything else driving that set up.

Hi - I just bought a V1 CRS (comes monday and I can't wait). Just curious, but is the speaker output jack wired in reverse polarity. I have a Fuchs ODS as well and it is reversed - Couldn't figure out why it didn't sound right when I first plugged in lol. I have 2 cabs (one "normal", one "reversed") so I can test both, but maybe someone has some knowledge already.

Thanks,
Ben

My understanding is that the heads are not reversed, those are just a normal output, the reverse polarity comes in how the cabinets are wired.

Sorry I didn't say it right. I should have said the AMP was out of phase. Yes, but if the cab is wired out of phase, that means the head is out of phase. From what I understasnd, Dumble-esque amps are prone to this. I'm no amp schematic guy, but someone told me it had to do with the way the tubes work (I think thats what he meant anyway lol). I tried it with my out of phase cab and it sounded great. I'm going to try the other cab later or tomorrow to compare.

I also was intrigued by this and emailed Bill a few months ago this was his reply

All reverb amps except the 10th anniversary reverse phase we are one of the only company's that correct for this. Most non reverb amps are in phase. You can buy or make reversing speaker cable to match the amp to the speaker cabinet.
