Greg Petronzi

Greg Petronzi is a guitar player, and signer-songwriter based in New York City. Fourth cousin to opera singer Enrico Caruso, Greg grew up in a musical family. His father Ron is a notable blues guitarist who often played in local venues in the NY/NJ area. At age 12, Greg took to blues guitar and quickly developed his skill as he worked with jazz greats such as Dave Stryker, Randy Johnston, and Geary Moore. His main influences, however, were Stevie Ray Vaughn, Mike Bloomfield,  Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton.

Greg began his songwriting career in college at NYU where he combined his electric blues knowledge with acoustic singer/songwriter dynamics in an up and coming independent group called "ippazzi." He also paired up with spoken word/rap artist, Akil Davis, to create music that "The Maplewood News Record" has described as "making the concept of diversity audible." Though very new, "ippazzi" (ippazziband.com) has a strong following in the New York City circuit. His most recent album was recorded and engineered by the Grammy-nominated producer Jack Gauthier, who is most famous for his work with Dispatch, Duke Robillard, and Tom Waits to name a few.

In addition to ippazzi, Greg also leads a popular blues trio called "A New Blue." Playing regularly in reputable NYC venues, Greg has recently transitioned from a vintage 1964 Fender Vibroverb to a Two-Rock Jet. Greg says that the Two-Rock Jet combo amp has inspiring tone and plenty of headroom for small to midsize venues in Manhattan. Since owning the Jet, he is amazed at the tone and power that Two-Rock get out of such a compact, lightweight amp.
